Our participation in stewardship comes in the forms of time, talent and treasure—all first fruits of our efforts. The overwhelming abundance and generosity of spirit at this church has always inspired us, and me—Michelle—to individually give back. One of the ways I give back to St. John’s is by volunteering as a Liturgical Server. (Getting up early to serve at the 7:30a.m. Mass has given my friends something to tease me about—particularly since my family relocated to Longmont from Lafayette and our “commute” doubled!)
My husband David and I love the peacefulness, simplicity and profound presence of the Holy Spirit in the chapel at that service. We raised our then-infant with the 7:30 service, and Julia Leigh's baptism at St. John's six years ago in our chapel is among the fondest of St. John's memories for David and I. As director of Adult Education in 2000 and 2001, I got to know others' interests, and found out what courses, books groups and study groups could be formed that worshipping adults would find stimulating and gratifying. We even opened some activities to neighboring parishes and synagogues. Once we had an ecumenical Advent Wreath seminar! But, children grow and schedules stretch so we might not make the 7:30 service as much any more. This is in part because I am teaching Sunday School which starts getting organized around 9:45.
If there are any hidden talents you may have that you would like to share with your parish, please tell our clergy and ministry directors. They are always open to new ideas as the arms of the Lord are always open at this wonderful church home. And we Webbs are happy to give as much of what we can to our dear St. John’s, when and how we can.
Peace be with you.~Michelle Graziose Webb
