From Tennessee to Colorado, connections are being made in the Episcopal church. Towards the end of the summer, on 18 August at 6 p.m., parishioners from St. John's will gather to hear about how lives are being transformed at Magdalene House, and to support Christ's graces and mercies occurring there. Items from Thistle Farms that supports Magdalene House, such as Balm of Gilead, Hannah's Laughing Body Cream, Lot's Wife Salt Scrub, will be available for purchase. All this follows a pot-luck dinner and discussion of "Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl" written in 1861 by a former woman slave, Harriet Jacobs. Bondage, freedom, and redemption will be the themes of this evening, in the lives of others and our own. To find out more, contact nmartincoffey@stjohnsboulder.org.
Other books we will be reading and discussing are The Gospel According to Sam by Bill Miller on September 8 and Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt by Ann Rice on October 13.
Faithfully in Christ, Mother Nancee+
