Education for Ministry

Tuesday, 6:00pm to 8:30pm
Friday, noon to 2:30pm

EFM is a four-year program of theological education sponsored by the University of the South Theology Extension Center. It enables the lay person to learn about the Christian tradition from the earliest period to the present, and helps discern one's call to Christian service. While course materials provide academic content, the focus of the program is on life as ministry and formation of community. Meetings of this group include discussion of scripture and the EFM commentary, regular worship time, presentation of spiritual autobiographies, theological reflections, discussions about beliefs, and planning one's Christian vocation. Participants receive 18 continuing education credits for each year of study. St. John's has two EFM groups that meet weekly for nine months.
