“We are called to serve anyone who is in harm’s way, not because they are Christian but because we are.” ---Jack Jezreel, JustFaith founder
JustFaith I is an intensive and successful model of justice education and spiritual formation. It consists of weekly meetings and employs books, DVD’s, speakers, discussion, prayer retreats and hands-on experiences. The intent is to provide a tapestry of learning opportunities that emphasize and enliven the remarkable justice tradition of the Church. Participants are exposed not only to a substantive and demanding course of study but also are afforded the privilege of becoming a community with other participants, sharing a journey of faith and compassion that is both life-giving and challenging.
JustFaith II helps familiarize participants with some tools of social transformation. As people of faith are drawn by God’s Spirit to places and people abandoned and desperate, the challenge of translating heartfelt love and compassion into real and effective action remains. As the Church has worked to articulate and embody the Gospel call to love our neighbors as ourselves, certain strategies and critical expressions have emerged. In the course of eight months, participants are introduced to action skills and contemplative skills that allow the work on behalf of justice to be done with effectiveness, insight, and wisdom
