Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who activates all of them in everyone. St. John’s presents Bibles to third graders as an important “milestone” in their faith journey. Older children who missed the event in third grade are invited to participate as well.
Prior to the presentation, parents are invited to join Father Rol and Cathy Ode for a “Bible Workshop for Parents.” There, parents get a brief overview of the history and structure of the Bible. They also personalize their child’s Bible with notes, stickers and highlighted verses. To help fulfill the promises they made at their child’s baptism, parents make the actual presentation of Bibles to children during worship. Later, children get “up close and personal” with their new Bibles in a special Sunday School class led by Cathy Ode.
