Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who activates all of them in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. — 1 Corinthians 12.4-7

Episcopal Church Women of St. John’s (ECW)

The ECW of St. John’s is a group designed for women who are committed to many things but are open to associations in a deeper way with other women. The purpose of this group is to focus on women of all ages within our parish and to enhance intergenerational relationships through activities designed to guide each of us every day of our lives. We open our minds and hearts to the needs of others and to the presence and comfort of Christ. The ECW sponsors both a fall luncheon with a speaker, and a retreat.

Hospitality

The primary function of the hospitality committee is to coordinate funeral receptions in the parish hall. Occasionally they host other special functions at the church. The committee relies on volunteers to help bake cookies, set up and serve coffee and tea, and clean up after the reception. Being a part of the hospitality team is an easy way to help fellow parishioners without a large time commitment.

St. John’s Foyer Dinner Group

The members of the St. John’s Foyer Dinner Groups meet to share food and fellowship, renew old friendships and meet new friends. Many parishioners of all ages, single and married, participate in the dinner groups. Each fall new dinner groups are formed when parishioners sign up to participate. Those who sign up are randomly divided into small groups to enjoy monthly potluck dinners in members’ homes beginning in October and continuing through May. In addition, a Holiday Party is held sometime in December or January so that all the dinner groups can join together for a holiday celebration. All parishioners are encouraged to participate in this fellowship!

Sunday Coffee Hour

Each Sunday, following the 10:00 am service, refreshments are served in the parish hall and parishioners gather to enjoy each other’s company. Volunteers are welcome and needed to prepare the coffee before the service, cut up pastries or bread, and to clean up following the coffee hour.

Welcome Committee

The Welcome Committee’s mission is to make everyone feel at home at St. John’s whether they are visitors, new members or established members. We especially want to help new members find a sense of belonging in our parish community. Several times a year we host a special coffee hour to celebrate our newer members and also organize other social events to foster opportunities for fellowship among all members of St. John’s. We encourage you to contact us if we have not already contacted you.
