Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who activates all of them in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. — 1 Corinthians 12.4-7

Intergenerational Gatherings

Coffee Hour

Coffee and refreshments are served in the parish hall after the 10 a.m. service on Sundays.

Soup Kitchen

St. John's hosts a Soup Kitchen on the first Sunday of each month. It is a ministry primarily for our brothers and sisters in need. Volunteers, including teenagers and older children, help prepare, serve, and clean up. On occasion others from the Boulder community, including students from the University of Colorado, also assist in this ministry.

Family Service

On the first Sunday of every month throughout the year, our 10 a.m. church service focuses on the family for a more child-and youth- friendly service. Children and youth help lead this service.

Christmas Pageant

St. John's children re-enact the annunciation and birth story from scripture the Sunday before Christmas Day. This long standing tradition is a moving experience for all ages.

Epiphany - Feast of Lights

Join us for this celebration of the disciples carrying the light of Christ into the world.

St. John the Patron Saint – St. John the Evangelist

Each January, we celebrate our patronal feast day, honoring St. John by reflecting upon his life and how it affects our lives together in Christ.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Young and old are invited to reflect upon the life and Christian journey of Martin Luther King Jr.

Lenten Supper Series

On Wednesdays during Lent, we gather for Evensong in the chapel and then move to the parish hall for Holy Eucharist and a meal of bread and soup. Following this is the presentation and small group activity suitable for all.

Pentecost

This major holiday of the church year celebrates the coming of the Holy Spirit to the church. In past years, we have gathered on the grounds following this service for a picnic and fellowship.

Ministry and Stewardship Fair

Each fall, displays featuring all the ministry and faith formation opportunities at St. John's are set up in the parish hall, and members are available to answer questions about each one.

Blessing of the Animals (St. Francis Day, the first Sunday in October)

Bring your pets (live or toy) to a service to commemorate St. Francis' love for all creation. We ask that pets be on leashes. Every pet will receive an individual blessing from one of the clergy, and a St. Francis medallion. We ask that anyone planning on bringing a large animal, such as an elephant, contact the office!

All Saints Day (November)

On this special day we remember special saints in our lives who are no longer with us. Families connect with other families and learn about St. John's parishioners who have gone to their greater glory.

Kirkin' o' the Tartan and Crafts Fair

Kirkin' means 'churching of the tartan,' and here at St. John's it is a day of celebrating family and community. Complete with bagpipes, Irish dancing, shortbread and soda bread, it is an exciting and fun day. Be sure to bring a favorite tartan to be blessed. Many talented artists make St. John's their home, and following the service, artists are invited to make their works available for sale.
