Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who activates all of them in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. — 1 Corinthians 12.4-7

St. John's Library

Introduction

Welcome to St John’s Library, located within the McKeown conference room to the east of the chapel! We invite everyone to browse our shelves and/or our online collection through the link provided. The library is a special collection of printed and non-printed materials offering spiritual, educational and recreational resources for the community as well as supporting the mission of St. John’s. It also serves to

  • promote spiritual development for individuals, staff, families and ministries
  • provide literature and resources to enhance Christian living.

Our current collection, of approximately 600 items, includes reference materials, Christian-based resources, fiction, biographies, teacher resources and special collections. We also have DVDs available.

We hope that everyone will take a moment to review the many resources available within the library and our website. Please refer to our circulation policy below and download the Library Card Request Form so you can begin to enjoy all of the benefits.

Borrowing policies

Library Card Request Form
This form will be used to establish your account and provide your contact information to library volunteers. For your convenience, there are printed copies available in the library. Please complete the form and either email to Loretta Melhado or leave it in the designated folder on the file cabinet. Anytime your contact information changes please let the library know.

Check out instructions

Once you have opened your library account, you may begin to check-out materials from the library. We do request that a limit of three books per borrower be observed so as to sustain a good selection for all. We also request that library materials be returned within 3 weeks of the original check-out date.

Complete the borrower’s card located in the front section of each book
Place completed borrower’s card in the box labeled “Items Checked-Out” located on the file cabinet. Please place borrower’s card in the appropriate alphabetical location. A borrower’s card needs to be completed for each item borrowed.

Return procedure

Items returned to the library may be placed on the shelf labeled “Return Items”, next to the file cabinet. In the event that an item is lost and/or damaged, we would ask that the donor either replace the item at cost or choose an appropriate replacement from our “Wish List”. This will ensure that the library collection will be maintained and continue to serve its community. Please contact the library volunteer (lcmelhado@hotmail.com/303-494-2527) to make replacement arrangements.

Donation Policy

St. John’s library will accept donation of materials with the understanding that the library committee may use their discretion in placement of the material(s). The library committee will evaluate each donation, incorporating the same criteria used in the selection process for new materials. If the donation is in the form of a gift, a bookplate may be utilized to acknowledge the gift/donation. In the event that there are more than five (5) items to be considered for donation, the committee requests that a list, consisting of titles and authors, be submitted first. If the committee determines that the item(s) is not accepted, the committee will see that it is disposed of in an appropriate manner.
