Director of Youth Ministries

Job Summary:
The Director of Youth Ministries is a full-time, paid position. This position oversees and administers programs of religious education, worship, and group activities for the youth of St. John’s (5th-12th grades), as well as opportunities for Christian education for the young adult of St. John’s (18-30 years old). This ministry empowers youth and young adults to lead a life in Christ, through service, fellowship, and spiritual growth within the traditions of the Episcopal Church, while caring for all families.

Reporting directly to the Rector, the Director of Youth Ministries works directly with all clergy and staff, the Youth Leadership Team, the Youth Advisory Committee and Youth Ministry Volunteers.


Responsibilities:
• Direct the Youth Program (Breakfast Club and Middle & High School Youth Groups) and organize programming for Young Adults
• Direct St. John’s Confirmation Program and assist with the Acolyte Program as needed
• Plan and coordinate annual mission trips, retreats, trips and activities for St. John’s youth
• Assist youth in the management of the Heavenly Brew Coffee Company and organize the adult coffee company board
• Organize Senior Recognition for high school and college graduates
• Organize and facilitate the annual Youth Sunday Services
• Plan and administer the Youth Ministry annual budget
• Organize and lead the Youth Leadership Team and retreat
• Attend weekly St. John’s staff meetings and report on projects and ministry needs
• Attend and lead monthly Youth Advisory Committee meetings
• Provide counsel and support to all young people through life transitions
• Other duties as requested by the Rector


Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree - Religious Education or Young Adult Education preferred
Successful experience leading and inspiring youth
Experience in Youth Ministry preferred
Model Christian values while manifesting a sincere love of young people

 

Compensation:
Salary range of $26,000 to $36,000 depending on experience and education plus 10 days paid vacation and employee health insurance (estimated value of $250 to $350 per month).
