Principal Organist, St. John’s Episcopal Church, Boulder

St. John’s Episcopal Church in Boulder is seeking a talented professional with exceptional musical skills to serve as Principal Organist. An energized parish in the heart of downtown Boulder, St. John’s is looking for an individual with excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of the rich tradition of Anglican music and liturgy, and the ability to work gracefully as part of a large worship team.  The Principal Organist will work with an established and renowned music program, lead by Director of Music Thomas Edward Morgan and St. John’s three choirs. The position requires participation at one Sunday service per week, one monthly choral rehearsal, as well as extra seasonal services. Weddings and funerals are extra fees. The church has two organs: the 49-rank Austin/Morel Sanctuary Organ (1930, renovated and expanded in 2002), and a Johannus Sweelinck 27 Platinum Edition digital instrument (in the Chapel; installed in 2014). Salary will be competitive. This part-time position is approximately 15 hours per week, and is available March 1, 2017. This person would be responsible for teaching a class of 5- to 8-year-olds on Sunday mornings and working with children of all ages at other church events.
