Bibles for Third Graders (& Up!)
St. John’s presents Bibles to third graders as an important milestone in their faith journey. Older children who missed the event in third grade are invited to participate as well.
Prior to the presentation, parents are invited to join the Clergy for a two-part Bible Workshop for Parents. There, parents get a brief overview of the history and structure of the Bible. They also personalize their child’s bible with notes, stickers and highlighted verses. To help fulfill the promises they made at their child’s baptism, parents make the actual presentation of bibles to children during worship. This year, we’ve added a children’s workshop component on the second workshop date—a Catechist will help children get “up close and personal” with the bible in a special Sunday School class while parents have a separate workshop.
Even if parents can’t attend the workshops, their children may still receive the gift of a bible. Just be sure to let us know by the RSVP date, so we’re prepared with a Bible for your child for the presentation.
Program dates for 2014/2015 coming soon!
