 Education for Ministry

Have you ever felt in your heart that you are called to something? Have you ever wanted to read the Bible without feeling frustrated and confused? Are you often left wondering how the wisdom of the Bible is relevant in the modern world? If you answered yes to any of these questions, please consider accepting this invitation to join our Education for Ministry (EfM) group here at St. John's.

EfM is a four-year curriculum that develops you into a theologically informed, reflective, and articulate person of God who is prepared to listen for and respond to God’s call. EfM helps you discover and exercise your call and how you share your unique spiritual gifts in the world. In our group, we explore and grow our individual faith within a safe and supportive community.

Participants sign up for one year at a time, which consists of 36 weekly meetings. There isn’t a four-year commitment. The EfM group at St. John’s meets every Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. from September to May, beginning this year on September 8.

This year’s theme will be “Living into the Journey with God,” and the new interlude texts are The Sabbath by Abraham Joshua Heschel and Hospitable Planet by Steven Jurovics.

If you are interested in exploring what EfM has to offer or are ready to sign up for the next year, please contact Anne or David (info below). This year the sign-up process is completely online and they haven’t quite got the system up and running. If you contact us, we will send you the link as soon as it is available. Space is limited so please contact us soon.

If you have any questions about the group, please contact either of the EfM mentors:
